Our 2005 Silverton 38 Sport Bridge is for sale!

PRICED TO SELL AT ONLY $203,000.00!! CONTACT ME FOR DETAILS- WE WILL ALSO HELP WITH SHIPPING (currently our boat is located on Lake Lanier in metro Atlanta, GA). Note that while I am a Yacht Broker with Frank Gordon Yacht Sales, this is my PERSONAL boat for sale.

Hi. Welcome to our "website." We are selling our 2005 Silverton 38 Sport Bridge boat. The reason for our selling our boat is simple- we are moving up to a bigger boat! :)

We would like to sell her in a timely manner so we have priced her significantly below FMV and significantly lower than any of her peers. The boat is 100% freshwater and always been kept in a covered slip on Lake Lanier in north metro Atlanta.

Dry Weight: 26,900 lbs (not prone to being tossed by wind and doesn't include weight of fuel/water/boat stuff! Higher displacement, i.e. the heavier she is= less prone to being subject to tossed by wind, waves, etc. as well as being an indication as to build quality of the vessel)
Beam: 14'4"
LOA: 40'
372 gallons fuel
110 gallons water

40 gallons holding tank

Twin 8.1 Crusader HO gas engines (190 hours) with closed cooling. These engines only burn about 5.5-5.8 GPH when cruising at hull speed...very efficient.
Kohler 8.0 KW genset (225+/- hours) that is very quiet and sips fuel.
All impellers for motors and genset replaced with only about 25 hours on them since replacement.
All oil changed on engines and generator about 10 hours ago.

This boat is the widest in her class (up to over 19" wider than other 38-40' sedans or aft cabins). In fact, this boat is the "beamiest" "38 foot" boat out there that I am aware of. I put quotes around "38" because in today's marketing world I am surpised Silverton does not call her a 40' boat. She has the same beam as the Meridian 408 motoryacht, 2' wider than the searay 38' sundancer, 12" wider than the Carver 38 Super Sport, 19" wider than the Regal 4080, the list goes on. Her wide beam, combined with Silverton's unique foredeck access design (the "sidewalk" design) that allows for a full beam width salon makes this boat feel amazingly spacious. I've been on lots of boats and her salon is as wide as just about any other 47-49' sedan I've been on (albiet obviously not as long of a salon since those boats are 10' longer!). This makes her feel extremely comfortable, let's you entertain a lot of guests/family, and makes for a platform from which to spend a sunset cruise or a week's trip with family or friends and not feeling cramped in the process. The "Sidewalk" design noted above is entirely unique to Silverton. Basically, on a normal sedan bridge design to get to the bow you must walk a narrow sidedeck accessed via the cockpit. Several issues come to light with such a design. First, if you are singlehanding your boat and need to get to the bow for any reason (docking, rafting up, anchoring, etc.) you must leave the helm, run down the stairs or ladder to the cockpit, and traverse the narrow sidedeck. Second, if you are traveling with children or others not used to boating safety, it is entirely possible for someone to go from the cockpit to the bow without you knowing about it and they could subsequently fall overboard amidships and you'd never know it as you cruise along at the helm on the bridge. With us having 2 small children, this was a huge concern of ours. Silverton completely eliminated this issue though by creating the unique design the 38 Sport Bridge enjoys. Unlike the "typical" sedan bridge design, to get to the foredeck/bow of the 38SB, you simply open either of the wing doors located next to the centerline helm seating. From there you enter onto the wide sidedecks (approximately 12" wide) and walk right onto the foredeck and bow. This makes access to the bow much safer, extremely easy to monitor (no one can access the bow without first coming to the bridge and being right next to the helm, as well as making docking, rafting up, etc. amazingly easy if you are singlehanding your boat (often times while we are doing these manuvers my wife is with the children keeping them still and I do all the docking, etc. by myself while she keeps them out of the way and safe). This picture is not the best quality as it was taken with my cell phone camera but it shows how you come off the bridge to get to the bow:

And another picture showing access from the bridge (note stainless steel handrail showing route of access from bridge and the door just next to the helm seating where stratoglass enclosure is opened...enclosure is in great shape by the way!):

Boat has 3 flatscreen TV’s , 3 stereos, BOSE Surround sound, 2 DVD players, icemaker, fridge up on the bridge and in galley, lots of storage for her size, all oiled cherry wood interior with real wood (no cheap laminates like other brands!!), real innerspring mattresses (no cheap foam mats!), and overall very good build quality, great looks, great amenities, and great handling.

I could go on for a long time about why this is a great boat and a boat that we truly love. We would not sell her except for the fact that we are going to move up to a bigger boat.. The best part is she is in nearly new condition and priced to SELL! In fact, she is the lowest priced '05 Silverton 38 SB anywhere to be found in North America or elsewhere. Usually the low priced boats are in considerably less than perfect condition and subject to less than adequate care but such is honestly not the case here.
She is priced low to sell fast. The next lowest priced of same make/year/model is $45,000 more expensive than our Silverton!
For the mechanically minded, the engine room is spotless! One of the things we loved most about the 38 Sport Bridge (ok, we love a lot of things but this one is related to the engines!) is how absolutely huge the engine room is for this size boat. Compared to other brands in this same size class, the 38 Sport Bridge has a cavernous engine room that makes taking care of all systems and checking them an absolute breeze. All systems are well thought out and placed such that access to them is easy, which makes taking care of her a breeze and much more pleasant than other brands. We've found that just being able to get easily into the large engine room facilitates regular system checks and making sure work gets done versus boats with cramped and unpleasant engine rooms.

Best of all she is turn-key and absolutely ready to go. If a buyer desires to remain on Lake Lanier in north metro Atlanta, GA where she is currently kept, we can work it out where the 50' covered slip that we lease where she is located in at Bald Ridge Marina can be transfered to you with the boat. This is a good deep water slip on a very nice dock!

SHIPPING: It is our understanding that in order to ship the 38 Sport Bridge over land on a truck requires only removing the bimini top and the radar arch which is held in place with 4 large bolts. Thus, shipping costs and prep is not terribly expensive. For the buyer that desires to ship her out of state, we will work with you on shipping costs.

If you shop around the internet on any of the boat listing websites, you will find that ours is best priced '05 38 Sport Bridge to be found anywhere. Combine this with the fact that she is in extremely good condition, well taken care of, in top mechanical shape, luxuriously appointed and spaciously laid out, she represents a tremendous value to the buyer looking for a boat of this size/style.

Below are quite a few pictures of our boat. More available upon request but these should give you a good idea as to her overall condition and layout.

Pictures:

Layout:

Corian Countertops in the huge U-shaped galley with 2 burner cooktop, convection microwave, full fridge and freezer, all with tons of storage in real oiled cherry wood cabinetry:

Corian Countertops in head w/ vacuflush and again, all real cherry wood interior finish:

Flatscreen/DVD player/Stereo in master stateroom (again, all doors are real cherry wood and real panels with beautiful hardware!):

Couch electronically folds out for a bed. Couch is extremely comfortable:

2nd stateroom has filler cushion to make into one large double. Real innerspring mattress and even the filler cushion is innerspring and not just cheap foam Large cedar lined storage locker at head of bed and lots of storage drawers in this stateroom with additional storage located under outermost bed (central vacuum cleaner unit is located under innermost bed):

Flatscreen in 2nd stateroom runs on 12V as does DVD player and additional 2nd stateroom storage:

Separate (and large!) shower to port w/storage behind mirror which is also trimmed out in corian. This shower is honestly as nice as any you will find at home and plenty of hot water:

Master stateroom with huge storage locker areas under the mattress, rows of cherry wood drawers at foot of bed, and 2 large cedar lined storage closets, port and starboard of bed. Real innerspring mattress that is extremely comfortable. Hatch above bed and 2 portholes make for a naturally well ventilated stateroom:

Master stateroom from companionway:

Saloon table with white canvas covers over forward windows to reduce solar heat in middle of summer (installed from the outside and removed in less than 2 minutes). Tons of storage space under dinette seating in this picture:

Saloon entertainment center with flatscreen, DVD/BOSE system with BOSE Surround Sound:

Bridge: wetbar with refrigerator and small storage compartment under sink:

Helm seating forward and center:

Helm:

Bench seats aft portion of bridge, additional 3' of open storage area aft of lounge bench for storage of water toys for the kids:

Cockpit lighting (also an icemaker in cockpit). Cockpit has both overhead lighting (shown here) and dim mood lighting for more mellow nights:

Best way to relax in the cockpit, what more can I say!:

Some shots of our boat anchored out on Lake Lanier:

NOTE BOAT IS INTENTIONALLY NOT FULLY ON PLANE (I admit it- I was jumping our own waves on our jetski thus trying to get maximum wave for good jumping)!!

Going slow (GREAT fuel economy at hull speed...only around 5.5-5.8 GPH combined with both engines:

Rafted up, our boat on far left as you look at the picture (sequence is our boat on far left, Carver 36, Searay 400, Meridian 408 which is same LOA and beam as our Silverton, Searay 42 which is also same beam width as our boat). Note our Silverton has a lot of freeboard:

Tied up with our friends in their 36 Carver:

Tied with friends, us on the far left then a Meridian 408 (same beam as our "38 foot" boat but hulls are same size), Searay 38 Sundancer (2' less beam than our "38 foot" boat), Searay 330 Sundancer, Searay 42 sedan bridge (same beam as our "38 foot" boat which is really a 40'):

Come Join the fun!

Sunpad on foredeck:

And the less glamorous pictures but all important Engine room with a bilge that is always bone dry:

Dripless Shaft Seals:

There is also a "hidden" feature about these dripless shaft seals that many don't know about, even other Silverton owners! Basically, the boat comes equipped with replacement shaft seals already on the shaft. Thus, when the seals eventually need replacing (which should be a long time from now!), this system allows you to change the seals without having to haul the boat! This is a huge cost savings. The details of how this works is explained in this video found on youtube:

Lazarette with 8.0 KW Kohler genset:

Believe it or not we actually have a lot more pictures of our boat if you want to see them! I aparantly love taking boating pictures and thus we have no shortage of our time on the water. We have completely loved owning our Silverton and can't say enough good things about the build quality, fit/finish, luxurious appointments, and overall tremendous value. Silvertons are made on the coast of NJ and built for salt water and it shows through in the quality of this boat!

We are also open to possible trades for a 47-50' pilothouse/trawler style boat.

Here are some additional pictures of our vessel that I thought would be helpful to a potential buyer....

In her covered 50' Slip which can be transfered to new buyer if you desire to stay on Lake Lanier:

Glass is in great shape and has the full cover for hot weather or can be removed in a matter of moments:

Refridgerator on bridge beneath wetbar sink. Note this particular picture was taken when we purchased the boat and previous owner did not remove stickers and one is visible stuck to the bottom of the fridge. That has since been cleaned and removed but wanted to show the fridge and it's the only picture I have of the inside!

Note black bar in picture below is the dock's roof support post. Huge bridge and stratoglass enclosure is in very good shape:

Huge double sunpad on foredeck is not in this picture as it was taken off for winter:

Swim platform will easily hold a large kayak which is great for running a stern anchor to shore if tying up to a beach or exploring quiet coves in the evening or mornings!

Kayak is also a great way to watch the sunset with a nice beverage in hand!

Herei s a picture of the unique "sidewalk" access from bridge to the foredeck. It's hard to tell in this picture but the footpath there is about 12" wide though camera angle here makes it look less for some reason:

Anchored out for the weekend with a stern anchor tied off on shore:

Maxwell windlass. This thing is awesome! It's actually pulled up 12" diameter trees that got wrapped up in the anchor with barely a protest.

Delta plough anchor. When they say "fast set" they mean it. We used to have a danforth on our old boat and it was always a pain to get it set good. This delta sets the first time and always holds.

No exposed screws on ANY of the cleats. Very stong and high quality hardware throughout:

I think this shot should be in the Silverton brochures!

Salon sofa folded out

Not the best picture but taken at screen door of cockpit as dinner is being prepared. Note how much headroom is in the salon!

Corian sink in head. Twin mirrors open up to lots of storage and additional storage under sink All cherry wood- not laminates!

At foot of master stateroom bed looking to port. Note portlights fully open with screens and combined with the hatch in the foredeck (also has a screen) the master stateroom gets great ventilation:

taken from master stateroom bed looking aft. Solid cherry wood door next to flatscreen/CD/DCD player is door to main salon. Door next to it is door to the head, which has access via the stateroom and the companionway. Large storage cubby directly under flatscreen:

Looking aft and to port off master bed. Door to right of flatscreen is door to shower. Cedar lined closet door just visible in the far right of this picture. Same sized cedar closet located at foot of bed on starboard side as well:

Separate shower on port side (i.e. shower is in a completely separate room by itself and not combined with the head on the starboard side). Mirror lifts up with a large storage area for soaps, shampoos, etc. Shower head has strong flow and adjustable settings. There is a door to enter the shower via both the master stateroom and the second stateroom amidships on the port side.

Here are even more pictures!
A great view to wake up to in the morning:

Huge galley with big stainless undermount sink. Sink faucet head can be pulled off the base and used as a shower for easy cleaning of pots and pans. Convection microwave works great. Lots of storage and all with corian countertops and corian cover that can be placed over sink when not in use:

2 burner glass cooktop stove:

You can fit a ridiculous amount of water toys behind the aft bench of the bridge!

Sunpad on the foredeck at sunset- stressful life!

Going back to my reference of carrying our kayak on the swim platform...it's also large enough to carry a small sunfish/snark sailboat. We carry it with us often and use it with the kids to "sail the seven seas". We've also gone on many a pirating adventure stealing all kinds of loot and treasure across Lake Lanier. Watch out if you see us coming- hide your valuables as my sailing crew is a tough lot! Ntoe kayak and sailboat are not included with the sale of our Silverton.

And back to the engine room....Here is a picture of access from the salon. Since the 38 SB has straight drives and not V-drives (which are more complicated, expensive to work on, and more prone to breaking due to increased complication), the engines are access via the salon. Hatches in the floor lift up for easy access down into the engine room via the slanted metal ladder just visible in this picture:

Having climbed down into the engine room, this is a picture looking aft and center of the bilge. Note ladder lifts up and be removed for easy access to all systems aft of the ladder:

Looking to port side of engine room aft of access ladder. Battery charger visible on bulkhead and port engine exhaust in foreground.

Looking aft and to starboard. Note heavy duty mountings for engine and the straight driveshaft with dripless seals for the starboard engine.

Starboard engine, aft:

Looking aft at the Kohler generator. Access for generator service, etc. is via the lazarette but backside of the genset can be seen here:

2 of the 5 batteries (4 house and starting batteries and another battery for the generator):

Lazarette hatch opening from cockpit. Visible is the large (and removable) storage locker in the opening:

Lazzarette access with storage removed. Access ladder visible and inside of prop pockets seen in hull:

And so as to not end on such a dull note as engine rooms and lazarettes, let's look one last time at the best reasons to be a boater:
And really, isn't this better than staying home and cutting the grass?

Links and videos of the 38 Sport Bridge

I thought it might be helpful to add some other data and stock info related to the Silverton 38 Sport Bridge.

First off, the 38 Sport Bridge is still in production by Silverton. You can view all the data regarding the 38 Sport Bridge including some good stock photos of the model at their website. A direct link to the 38 Sport Bridge specs and photos is here: http://silverton.com/models/38SB08/38SB08.html

Also, there is a stock video (with no sound for some reason) of the 38 Sport Bridge cruising on the water posted on youtube. A link to that video is here:

Ok, even MORE pictures!

Well I've got what seems like a bazillion pictures of the boat so what the heck- I'll post some more. My apologies if they are somewhat redundant but I figured it would not hurt to have more pictures and it may further help someone decide whether our boat is actually in good shape or not and what it looks like. So, here you go:

Early morning on the bridge with dew on the stratoglass as the sun comes up:

Sunset cruise back to marina:

Summer evening storm rolling at sunset:

Rafted up with a Searay 400 Sedan:

Carver 36 to starboard, Searay 400 to port on 4th of July, 2008:

And finally, the biggest question that I know is on everyone's mind...does the duck floaty come with the boat?! Well, if you can convince my daughter to part with her floaty duck we can throw it in on the deal but I'll tell you now, she's a tough little negotiator, as is her brother! If you're a savy negotiator though you may be able to get them to throw it in on the deal for you. :)

A helpful comparison chart

If you are considering buying our 38 Sport Bridge, I am sure you are doing just what I did when I was shopping for her- comparing and contrasting different models that seemed similar. Below is a chart I created that shows some features of other similar boats. If you click on the image it will enlarge it so that you can read the text. As you can see, the Silverton 38 Sport Bridge is wider, has better fuel, water, and waste capacity than any other boat out there. The Meridian 391 was hold 25 gallons more water but that's due to it holding about 25 gallons less fuel than the Silverton. I've also included the Searay 44 Sedan that is currently in production to show how wide of a beam the 38 Sport Bridge has and other aspects of the 38 Sport Bridge compared to a larger sedan.

A couple more pictures

We were out on the boat this weekend and decided to take a few more pictures to post here. Note that despite this site saying this particular set of pictures was posted 8/18/08, they were actualy taken on September 21, 2008. To keep the very first post at the top and newer posts at the bottom, I'm having to utilize the blogger trick of altering the "post dates" so that this site reads oldest to newest (blogger wants to set everything up as newest first then oldest...).

The foredeck:

And to give a buyer an idea of the condition/quality of the stratoglass enclosure on the bridge...this next picture was taken standing on the fiberglass top above the salon glass outside the bridge enclosure with the strataglass down. In other words, this picture is taken looking through the strataglass and into the bridge (which you can't even tell in the picture since the stratoglass is so clear!). Also note that the E-Z-2-C strataglass enclosure has always and only been cleaned since day #1 with the Imar brand line of cleaning products as required by strataglass (use of other products can void the strataglass warranty):

Again, front strataglass panels and some of the side panels are down:
A pretty sailboat motoring through the marina, again, picture taken through the strataglass enclosure:

Another view of the helm:
I meant to bring a tape measure this weekend to take a picture of the wide sidedecks of the "Sidewalk" design outside the bridge wing doors but alas, I forgot to bring said tape measure. So instead, I snapped a picture of my feet standing right outside the bridge wing door on the port side (each side is same width). As you can see I can stand with normal width apart at my size 11 feet. As you move towards the bow the sidewalk deck gets even wider.
I realized I didn't have a picture of the electrical panel up here. Water tank and holding tank gauges are above the main panel on the right hand side.

Oh yeah, it's backlit for when you need to use it in the dark:

Additionally, the flatscreen in the main salon slides out to reveal a storage area behind the TV and a CD storage rack next to the storage area, all behind the flatscreen. Silverton has utilized about every square inch of space!!

And a special thanks to my friends and dock neighbors that (unbeknownst to them but they won't mind) allowed me to utilize their boat for a platform from which to take this picture! I'd like to highlight again how much storage is behind the aft settee of the bridge. If you look at other sedans in this size class one thing you will notice is that you have virtually nowhere to store your water floats, etc. When other folks we know are having to deflate their water toys each time they go home due to lack of ANY suitable storage area big enough to keep them inflated, the 38 Sport Bridge does not have this problem. In the winter we just deflate them all and store them under one of the 3 huge storage compartments under one of the bridge settees.

Running shots!

We were out on the lake this past weekend (October 18th/19th)- had a great night anchoring out by ourselves on the cool fall night (about 45 degrees??) and had friends raft up with us Sunday for the afternoon. One of our friends took some running shots of our Silverton on the way back to the dock. They came out pretty good I thought!
